EDGY VALENTINE

Hey Dolls,

This year I wanted to share an edgier Valentine's Day look. Most of us opt for an all red number, sexy dress, or a simple little black dress for V-Day however, everyone's plans do not include a formal dinner. I, for one, like to hit up a jazz club or some place that's playing music so I can sip on a glass of wine and slow dance with my Boo. Rocking something a bit artsy and edgy changes things up a bit. I love the hint of red peeking out underneath and the fact that this dress is velvet with a turtleneck makes it perfect for a chilly night out.

Turtleneck Velvet High Low Dress: Eshakti (sold out - other velvet options)
*size note* velvet tends to run large and it stretches (a lot) so size down. I should have sized down 2 sizes! Alterations will be crazy expensive but this dress is a keeper so I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the 5! lol
Sunnies: Vintage
Shoes: Zara (on sale!)

My daughter took my pics and liked this "hold my ponytail" pose! lol

HOME ACCENTS

Hey Dolls,
I'm really having fun decorating my new apartment. We've only been here for 6 months and I've already changed it up about 1,000 times!

Today, I want to share with you some of my home accents (aka - things that serve no purpose other than to look cute). Currently, I've been loving the color orange so my home is bursting with pops of tangerine. Next month, the entire place may be stark white (you just never know with me). haha

I found these Glass Candle Lanterns at Kirkland's and filled them with faux fruit. The utensil holder is MacKenzie Childs. (gift from hubby)
Pineapple Tea Towels - PaperSource (sold out)
MacKenzie Childs 3qt Tea Kettle - Neiman Marcus (gift from hubby)
Bar Stools - Target
I love my bar cart and change it up often. It's a fun accent that's cute and functional. The mermaid vase is from At West End but it's an older item and no longer available. Gold Pineapple is from Joss & Main (here's one from Wayfair). Drinks and gold stemless wine glasses are from World Market.
Pineapple wine decanter - Pier1 Imports/Moscow Mule Mugs - Home Goods/Mexico The Cookbook - Barnes & Noble
Black Mirror - Big Lots (in store only)/Ghost Chairs - Biz Chairs/Pedestal Table - Ikea
Wall Paint - Sherwin Williams (Amalfi)/Bar Cart - Target/Towel - Marshals (in store only)

Ginger Jar - Ross (in store only)/Pineapple - Hobby Lobby (in store only)/Pineapple candlestick holders - Goodwill then painted by me)/Greek Key lamp - Home Goods (in store only)
Orange Pillows - Tuesday Morning (in store only)/Stripe Pillow Covers - Ikea/Tassel Pillows - Target/Faux fur throw - Marshals (in store only)/Sofa - Nebraska Furniture Mart (on sale now!)

I love "word" art and I found this of one of my favorite scriptures while browsing through Ross. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
When I saw this bear head at Target (sold out) I had to have it. I'm Native American and of the Bear Clan. While a bear head hanging on the wall may seem a bit creepy to some - it's a personal treasure for me. For us, bears represent strength, wisdom, and healing.
Coffee Table Books are great accent pieces. I love fashion and home decorating books. They can be pricey so check eBay and Amazon.
I purchased the white Vittsjo shelf from Ikea and spray painted it with this gold paint. The floor mirror is about 10 years old. It was also painted gold (If you stop by my place, I may paint you too cause I'm a gold spray painting fool!).
Found this globe at Goodwill and painted it black, deer head book ends are from Hobby Lobby, Greek bust is from Ross. All in store only.
Gold "T" - Hobby Lobby/Silver Pineapple - Tuesday Morning (both in store only)
God is love print (8x10) - Minted/Diego and Frida book set - best price here/Teal "Pray more and Worry less" picture is from my daughter.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Our bedroom is my next project!

SPRING IN JANUARY

Hey Dolls!
I'm feeling somewhat rude for posting this outfit because of the terrible weather happening in other parts of our great nation....BUT...the weather in Dallas has been AMAZING! It was nice enough to wear this today.

*cue snowballs flying my way from the East Coast. Eek!*

Floppy Hat: Old from H&M (similar)
Striped Dress: Eshakti (sold out)
Shoeties: Aerosoles (found at Ross)
Handbag: Michael Kors (called Bedford and I can't find it to link)

GREEN IS TO BE SEEN

Hey Dolls,
I love the color green and I believe when you rock green it is to be seen Honey! While home for the Holidays, I found this deep teal Jessica Simpson faux fur vest at Dillard's and had to add it to my collection. This jumpsuit is also from Dillard's but I purchased it last year. Michael Kors handbag (similar) is also from Dillard's. I seriously didn't realize that this entire outfit was from Dillard's until now. I need some $ for advertising for them! lol
